The battery for a jet ski (PWC, Personal Watercraft) needs to adapt to the special requirements of the water environment and have high starting power and vibration resistance and waterproof performance.
Core performance requirements:
1. High CCA (cold starting current): The motorboat engine requires instantaneous high current to start, and the battery CCA value must match the manufacturer's requirements (usually higher than that of a car battery).
2. Anti-corrosion design: The battery terminals must be plated with lead or copper to prevent seawater salt spray corrosion (you can apply vaseline or special preservatives).
3. Waterproof and splashproof: Even AGM batteries must be installed in a waterproof battery box to avoid direct immersion in waves.
4. Sealed battery compartment: The battery should be fixed in a ventilated and dry cabin to avoid direct contact with the hull metal (to prevent short circuit).
5. Anti-vibration measures: Use rubber pads or straps to reinforce to reduce vibration damage during high-speed navigation.
6. Positive pole protection: Disconnect the negative pole wiring first to prevent the tool from accidentally touching the positive pole and causing a short circuit.
7. Dedicated charger: AGM batteries need to use a smart charger that supports "AGM mode" to avoid overcharging.
8. Charging frequency: It is recommended to charge after each use, and recharge every 1~2 months when idle for a long time.
9. Cleaning inspection: Regularly remove salt and moisture from the battery surface and check whether the terminals are oxidized.
10. Temperature influence: High temperature will accelerate battery aging, and low temperature will reduce capacity. If used in cold waters, you need to choose a battery with a higher CCA.
11. Salt spray protection: After use at sea, rinse the outside of the battery with fresh water (do not directly rinse the terminal).
